It is quoted from the movie “One Night With The King” and I loooovvveee it.
Here’s the quote: (talking about the story of David vs Goliath)
”Do you know what my favorite part of the story is? It is that David’s victory came not because he fought well, but because he believed well.”
How many of us claimed that we are more than conquerors? It’s true! We are more than conquerors! But, sometimes we forgot to claim the whole sentence of the verse: “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Rm 8:37)
So we are not just “more than conquerors” but “we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us”. Slight difference in the sentence, but big difference in the meanings.
Have you ever wondered, why was it not Saul who defeated Goliath? After all, wasn’t it Saul that has the biggest body among the Israelites? He was also trained to fight combats in wars. Or, why not Eliab (David’s older brother)? He has a great profile and height? He should be the hero! (we think).
But of all people, all the experienced soldiers in Israel, why did God choose David to beat Goliath? Why did He choose the youngest, red faced boy, who has no (zero) war experience? He couldn’t even wear Saul’s fighting armor. It’s illogical! It’s so.. so.. God.
He wants to show us how to be “more than a conqueror”. It’s not by strength or might. Not by the war experience, or man’s effort. It’s not by the great king’s armor, the finest one man’s ever made.
It’s by faith.
So, ask this question when you always experience defeats in your war: “is it your strength or His strength that you hold on?”
(it’s a rhetorical question, because we all know the answer).
the brand of a pen is not written in the bibliography, it’s the author’s name
Glory to God !
